House Hunting on Superbowl Sunday

football-player.gifSo – are you going to be house hunting on Superbowl Sunday?

There’s nothing wrong if you take time out from your home search to enjoy the “holiday” this Sunday and watch the game. After all, there were 141 million viewers last year. Lots of agents I know are taking time off since it is such a popular day for TV watching and a host of parties. Don’t feel guilty.

On the other hand, it can be a good day to hit the open houses, too. There will be fewer people out. But be aware that you may find fewer open houses, too.

Like some other holidays, because of the popularity of this event and parties, it has become a day when the real estate business takes somewhat of a break…even more so than some other holidays (except perhaps Christmas and maybe New Year’s day when they fall on the weekend). Mother’s Day, for example, is a day when many in the business decide to not hold houses open. And many agents say that this one day has been the worst day for them to hold open houses.I wrote a blog about this on ActiveRain – check it out and all the agent comments and you’ll see what I mean.

But there are exceptions. And if you are serious about buying, or perhaps in a situation where you need to buy fairly quickly, such as a relocation, go ahead – hit the open houses.

GO BEARS!
